Spring 2024 Try-Out Dates
Hunt Seat and Western: Tuesday, January 16th, 6-8 p.m.
All riding levels are welcome, and you are not required to show to participate on the team.
Please bring:
- UC Bearcat Card
- Health Insurance Card
- Appropriate Attire:
- Hunt Seat: helmet, breeches, polo, half chaps and paddock boots or tall boots, gloves
- Western: helmet, jeans, western boots, and a fitted tucked in shirt
The tryouts are a group event that consist of a barn tour, paperwork completion, riding, and visiting the in-barn tack store to check out our UC apparel.
To tryout for the team, please fill out the registration form on this website.
At tryouts, Coach Missy Jo will assess your riding abilities and help place you in the correct IHSA division per IHSA guidelines. Our show team consists of fifty competitive riders, while our leisure team is not limited. Given that IHSA competition requires a full team across divisions, Coach Missy Jo will select riders with all levels of experience for the show team (riders with no experience to advanced riders). Riders that are not immediately on the show team are still expected to act as a member of the team and participate in weekly riding lessons at Saddle Lake. The show team is subject to change each semester. We need all levels of riding for our team and no experience is necessary. Please do not get discouraged if you are new to horseback riding!
